Delta Sky Club change: Gordon’s liquor

a bottle of vodka on a white satin

I haven’t been in a Sky Club in a couple weeks so I haven’t been able to witness the change that was supposed to take effect May 15, but the story is that Sky Clubs will now have Gordon’s liquor for free, but will charge for other liquor.a bottle of vodka on a white satin

Now, I used to belong to the Sky Club for the free drinks when I first joined (part of the reason why I changed from the Red Carpet Club to the Crown Room Club years ago), but now I don’t drink too much anymore.  I think I’m Delta’s target Sky Club member.  This change doesn’t affect me much, but to others this is a huge change and I’m sure many will be reevaulating their membership.  Will I change?  It depends on the state of things in February of next year when my membership is up.  I will definitely check out the US Airways club and if they have made improvements to the program I might join it since it’s at my local airport.

Points, Miles & Martinis also points out that instead of complimentary Heiniken and Blue Moon (and I’m assuming Sweet Water at the ATL clubs) only Budweiser and Miller will continue to be free.

  1. This was on several blogs and FT – from Delta rep:

    •Complimentary spirits: Vodka – Gordon’s; Gin – Gordon’s; Rum – Myers’s Platinum; Scotch – Scoresby; Bourbon – Jack Daniel’s; Sweet Vermouth – Martini & Rossi; Extra Dry Vermouth – Martini & Rossi.
•Complimentary beer: Budweiser and Miller Lite
•Complimentary wine: no changes to current wine offerings

  2. I love that Delta considers Jack Daniels as “bourbon”… Don’t the good people of Atlanta understand that Lynchburg isn’t in Kentucky?

  3. Why would you pay to join one of these clubs? Pay the net $250 fee to get an Amex Plat card and get DL, AA and US access.

    1. If I paid for lounge access on my own I would do that, or just buy passes off ebay. As it is though, i take the membership I’m given.

  4. I believe that it was not a wise choice on the part of Delta to dilute the quality level of beverages served complementary in the Sky Clubs. Especially as they continue to grow in the world wide market. The European partners they have are now offering more for less and will be considered soon as their primary carrier when traveling abroad.
